Control Requests

If intervention precedes responding then the usual steps are as given on Trump Request page (essentially PASS, *¦**, next, next+1).

Control requests are responded to in 4 steps:

1. No 1st or 2nd round control
2. 2nd round control - Singleton (below 4NT) or Kx...
3. 1st round control - Void (below 4NT) or Ax...
4. 1st & 2nd round control: AKx... or AQx... or A singleton

Following a control request opener can continue as follows:

• Make a further control request
• Revert to agreed suit at any level - however if jumping to 5 of agreed suit bypassing 4NT  then this is a request to partner  to bid  6  with  any of AK or  Q  of trumps. To  bid 7 if holding any two of these key cards.
• Make a King request with 4NT
